Today Yevgeny Nepoklonov, Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor addressed Ênio Antonio Marques Pereira, Secretary of Agriculture Defense of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply of Brazil, with a letter which says that during monitoring of banned and harmful substance residues in product consignments laboratory investigations revealed ractopmaine in the wet salted raw intestines produced by the Brazilian establishment No 862 (JBS S/A), in beef produced by the establishment No 504 (JBS S/A), in beef produced by the establishment No 421 (MINERVA S/A), in beef produced by the establishment No 4400 (JBS S/A).
This is the violation of the CU and Russia veterinary and sanitary requirements. The Rosselkhoznadzor expresses concern over the current situation because since December 2012 the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply of Brazil has ensured that all possible measures will be taken to provide compliance of imported to Russia products with the CU and Russia requirements, including the absence of ractopamine. Formerly the Veterinary Service in Brazil informed that ractopamine is not used in cattle farming and its usage is banned by the Brazil Law. The Rosselkhoznadzor imposes temporary restrictions on raw intestine supplies from Brazil to Russia from April 25, 2013. The Rosselkhoznadzor also imposes enhanced laboratory control of products from Brazilian establishments No 504 (JBS S/A), No 4400 (JBS S/A), No 421 (MINERVA S/A). The Rosselkhoznadzor requests the Brazilian Veterinary Service to investigate the causes of Ractopamine presence in animal products produced by the establishments No 504 (JBS S/A), No 4400 (JBS S/A), No 862 (JBS S/A) and to take measures aimed at prevention of import of products noncompliant with the CU and Russia requirements to Russia. The letter reads, “Please inform the Rosselkhoznadzor about the results of the investigations and taken measures”.
