As it's known the USA Administration proposed cuts to the budget for USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and plans to privatize the inspection of poultry establishments. It is also planned to eliminate 800 inspector positions and that will enable to save $30 million per year. Besides thanks to increase in speed lines the poultry industry will earn additional $260 million per year. Meanwhile several American congressmen said that such changes "could pose serious threats to food safety and worker health". American non-governmental consumer protection organizations also expressed their concern about it. Under this situation the Rosselkhoznadzor deems it appropriate to remind that in accordance with the international veterinary law the animal product safety must be guaranteed by the national veterinary service of the country where the products were produced.
