Rubén Alberto Beltrán Guerrero mentioned high level of cooperation between Mexico and Russia including in the field of animal product imports. He assured the Russian delegation that Mexico was ready to eliminate the existing drawbacks in the work of the regulatory authorities in order to resume the suspended imports. In this connection he proposed to arrange a technical meeting of experts in order to develop common approaches and joint protocol on the conditions of supplies.
Sergey Dankvert emphasized that Russia also set much on the sustainable development of the Russian-Mexican trade relations. This is supported by the fact that representatives of the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Economic Development were taking part in the negotiations. Owing to the positive support of the Rosselkhoznadzor, meat imports from Mexico to Russia has increased 6 times with 75% of exporting plants authorized against the guarantees of the National Veterinary Service of Mexico. Unfortunately, these guarantees were not accompanied by appropriate actions including safety monitoring of food products and compliance with standards and requirements of Russia and Customs Union. Exactly due to these circumstances the Rosselkhoznadzor had to implement preventive measures and to temporarily suspend imports from the plants which were not inspected by its experts. The Rosselkhoznadzor is also concerned about the use in Mexico of growth stimulators banned in Russia and Customs Union, as well as about the slaughter of animals including horses supplied from the USA. At the talks held on 16 April of the current year Yevgeny Nepoklonov, the Rosselkhoznadzor Deputy Head and Enrique Sanchez Cruz, Chief Director of the National Service for Agriculture Health and Quality (SENASICA) agreed that Mexico would check the plants inspected by the Rosselkhoznadzor experts for the compliance with Russian and CU standards and requirements and send a report to the Rosselkhoznadzor. This will allow choosing one or another plan of action to improve the current situation based on bilateral decision.
Taking the occasion Sergey Dankvert suggested that a meeting should be arranged between the Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Mexico CVO on the sidelines of the OIE Session at the end of May of the current year.
